Kismet Park is a primary school with a curriculum focus on the Performing Arts. The existing building stock, whilst generally in good condition, was poorly planned with excess circulation space and not meeting the school’s contemporary needs. It also presented poorly to the street, and lacked clarity and a sense of arrival for visitors.
The final scheme creates a Performing Arts/Music space connected to the stage at the rear of the Gymnasium- a simple form with a dynamic roof creating external performance/tutorial/gathering spaces. The focus is on a light, acoustically tempered space with appropriate storage and opportunity for use by parent and other community groups.
The other focus is on the modernisation of the main Administration area to create a more secure, welcoming environment for staff and visitors. This approach extends to the entry gates and landscaping between the street and administration to create a coherent, legible approach for visitors.
