Bryant Alsop have been appointed as PDC for the largest redevelopment of learning spaces at JFSC in decades. We have had the pleasure of working with the College for 6 years and we are thrilled to see this project come to fruition.
The centre of the school is to be demolished to allow the construction of a new Science and Media building at the east end, and a VET Food Technology centre & canteen at the west. Significant landscaping will develop a mature, contemporary campus for current and future students.
Working closely with the school, we developed an extensive understanding of the existing conditions, needs, and aspirations of the school community to develop a proactive masterplan which was endorsed and progressed to further stages (SD, DD,TD) to develop the priority projects: new art, science, and food technology spaces in two separate buildings, as well as a large landscaping scope and services upgrades. Consideration was also given to the siting and staging of a future Sport & Performing Arts hub. Community use of facilities and the exploration of strengthening of existing partnerships within the City of Merri-bek were investigated. ESD initiatives and indigenous consultation were also critical components.
