Bryant Alsop was appointed by the Department of Education and Training (DET) as Project Managers to deliver a new special development school in Wodonga. Funding for both stages was awarded in 2 stages (Stage 1: $4.40m and Stage 2: $4.90m) and the school was officially opened by the Premier, Dr Dennis Napthine on 26 August 2014.
The school represents a fantastic new facility for the Belvoir school community and comprises five buildings – Administration, Multi-Purpose Centre, three Teaching Pods, central agora and sensory gardens, environmental zone and bike track, as well as all associated car parking, hard courts and landscaping.
BAPM also co-ordinated the design and documentation of all landscaping works to create a unique series of external spaces for the children – dry creek beds, sand pits, sensory gardens, trampolines, play equipment – as well as an lawn amphitheatre for performances and school presentations.
As contract superintendents, we were responsible for all financial and program monitoring, reporting to the Program Managers and DET; resolution of construction queries on site, co-ordination of the project consultant team and management of all contract adjustments including variations and extensions of time.
